About Us
Our Story
At a very young age I was introduced to the foster system. My mother was very young and just was not able to take care of me at the time. Although I wasn’t in foster care for long, I got a sense of how unfair the system can be. The foster care system can be both a lifesaver and an incredibly challenging environment for many children. I lucked out and got placed with the best foster parent a kid could ask for. She put me through swimming lessons, took me to my baseball games, hockey tournaments, took me to summer camp every year; I was very fortunate. Fortunate enough to be able to keep the relationship with her once I went back to live with my mom because we lived in the same small town in Saskatchewan. Through this relationship I seen a lot of children come and go from her place, all with very different stories and hardships. I began to realize that the foster system is not at all what I had experienced and that there are so many children out there facing different struggles and hardships. Like any system, the foster care system has its flaws, thus leaving many children without the support they need.
